A kontrollikogumi, often translated as control group, is a fundamental concept in scientific research, particularly in experimental studies. It serves as a baseline against which the effects of an intervention or treatment are measured. The control group is comprised of participants or subjects who do not receive the experimental treatment or manipulation. Instead, they might receive a placebo, a standard treatment, or no treatment at all, depending on the study design.
The primary purpose of a control group is to isolate the effect of the independent variable. By
