Konformitetsmerke, or conformity mark, is a symbol or label placed on a product to indicate that it complies with applicable regulatory requirements and technical standards. The mark signals that the manufacturer or importer has assessed the product and declared its conformity with relevant laws, directives, or standards, enabling market access in a given jurisdiction.

In the European Union and the European Economic Area, the most widely recognized example is the CE mark. It indicates that the product meets EU safety, health, and environmental protection requirements. Obtaining the mark typically involves a conformity assessment, documentation of technical specifications, and a declaration of conformity. For some product groups, testing or review by a notified body is required as part of the evaluation.

Conformity marks are not quality marks; they do not guarantee overall product quality or performance beyond the specified requirements. They are regulatory signals intended to ensure safety and compliance. Other marks exist for different markets or sectors, such as country- or industry-specific certifications, and may accompany or replace CE marking in certain cases.

In Norway and other EEA countries, CE marking is generally recognized under the EU/EEA framework. Some products, however, may require additional national or sector-specific certifications or labels. The responsibility for conformity rests with the manufacturer or importer, who must maintain technical documentation and, when applicable, a declaration of conformity.

Falsely using a conformity mark or distributing non-compliant products can lead to regulatory action, recalls, penalties, or withdrawal from the market.
