Kondicionaci is a term used in behavioral psychology to describe a process through which an organism learns to associate a previously neutral stimulus with a stimulus that naturally evokes a response. This learned association then leads the organism to respond to the neutral stimulus in a similar way to how it responds to the naturally evoking stimulus.

The most well-known example of this process is Pavlov's classical conditioning experiments with dogs. Ivan Pavlov observed that dogs naturally salivate at the sight or smell of food. He paired the presentation of food with the ringing of a bell. After repeated pairings, the dogs began to salivate at the sound of the bell alone, even without the presence of food. In this case, food is the unconditioned stimulus (UCS) which naturally elicits the unconditioned response (UCR) of salivation. The bell is the neutral stimulus that becomes the conditioned stimulus (CS) after being associated with the UCS, leading to the conditioned response (CR) of salivation.

Classical conditioning can occur in many aspects of human and animal behavior, including learning fears, preferences, and even physiological responses. It is a fundamental mechanism of learning that helps organisms adapt to their environment by predicting and responding to significant stimuli. The strength and speed of conditioning depend on factors such as the intensity of the stimuli, the contiguity of their presentation, and the repetition of the pairing.
