Komplementi is the plural of komplement (or complemento) in various languages and refers to the general notion of a complement — an element that completes the meaning of a larger expression. The term occurs in linguistics, mathematics and logic, and computer science.

In linguistics, a complement is a phrase or clause that completes the meaning of a predicate. It is typically required by the verb or symbol and contrasts with modifiers (adjectives, adverbs). Examples include object complements after transitive verbs (They elected him president); predicative complements after linking verbs (The sky is blue); and clauses that function as arguments of verbs.

In mathematics and logic, the complement of a set A within a universal set U is U minus A. Analogously, the negation of a proposition is its logical complement. The concept extends to probability with the complement of an event being the event that it does not occur.

In computing, complement also refers to bitwise negation (one's complement) and to two's complement representations for signed integers.

Etymology: from Latin complementum; cognates appear in many languages; in some languages, spellings such as komplement are used instead of complemento.
