koimeterion
A koimeterion, derived from the Greek word for "sleeping place," is a term that historically referred to a dormitory or a place of rest, particularly in the context of early Christian communities. These spaces served as communal living quarters where members of the community would sleep and live together. Beyond just a place to rest, koimeteria often functioned as centers for religious life and communal support.
In some instances, the term also came to be associated with early Christian burial grounds or cemeteries.
