Knoppsättning is a Swedish term that refers to at least two distinct practices depending on the context: a hairdressing technique and a horticultural grafting method.

In hairstyling, knoppsättning describes creating an updo by arranging the hair into small knot-like sections and securing them with pins and sometimes ribbons. The result is a compact, intricate hairstyle used for formal occasions or traditional looks. The process typically involves smoothing, sectioning, twisting or looping hair into decorative knots, and fixing the style with pins, hairspray, and sometimes a hairnet. Variants vary by knot size and placement, and the technique can accommodate long or medium-length hair.

In horticulture, knoppsättning denotes budding grafting, a propagation method in which a bud from a desired cultivar is joined to a compatible rootstock to produce a new plant. The aim is to combine the rooting power of the rootstock with the fruiting or ornamental traits of the scion. Common approaches include bud grafting techniques such as T-budding or shield budding, executed in appropriate dormant or growing-season windows. The process typically involves selecting a healthy bud, preparing a small shield or chip of bark, making a corresponding cut in the rootstock, inserting the bud, and securing it with grafting tape or wax until the union forms. Aftercare includes protecting the graft, monitoring moisture, and gradually removing supports.
