Kladblok is a Dutch term for a small pad or block of paper used for informal writing, sketching, note-taking and drafting. The word combines klad (scribble, draft) and blok (block), and corresponds to English terms such as notepad, sketchpad or scratchpad. Kladblokken are intended for temporary or preparatory records rather than final documents.

Typical kladblokken consist of multiple sheets bound at one edge by glue, staples, or spiral wire, and are available in various sizes—commonly A4, A5 and A6—or in formats with perforated sheets for easy removal. Paper types include ruled, graph, and blank; heavier paper variants are used for drawing. Some pads have cardboard backing to provide a firm writing surface, and others are refillable or part of a bound notebook system.

Kladblokken are used across many contexts, including education, journalism, office work, design and construction, where quick notes, calculations or sketches are needed. They are valued for portability, low cost and disposability. Environmental considerations have led to recycled-paper versions and refillable formats to reduce waste.

Digital equivalents such as note-taking apps, tablets and stylus-based devices increasingly supplement or replace physical kladblokken, offering searchability, cloud storage and easier sharing. Despite digital alternatives, physical kladblokken remain common for their immediacy, tactile feedback and ease of use in settings without electronic devices.
