Kikkertbruk, also known as the European Common Toad, is a species of toad native to Europe and parts of Asia. It is a semi-aquatic amphibian, spending much of its time in or near water. Breeding occurs in the spring, with females laying their eggs in water. The tadpoles undergo metamorphosis and transform into adult toads over a period of several months. Kikkertbruk are active both day and night, but are more active during the cooler parts of the day.

The species is widely distributed across Europe and parts of Asia, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Russia. However, its population has declined in some areas due to habitat loss, pollution, and other environmental factors. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this important amphibian species.
