keramsit
Keramsit, also spelled keramzit or keramsite, is a lightweight expanded clay aggregate used in construction and horticulture. It consists of small, inert ceramic granules produced by firing natural clays in a kiln. The high temperatures cause minerals in the clay to release gases, forming numerous hollow, porous spheres. After cooling, the material is graded by particle size for different applications.
Production and characteristics

In construction, keramsit is used as a lightweight aggregate in concrete and plaster, producing lighter-weight concretes
