kasbescherming
Kasbescherming is a term used in Dutch greenhouse horticulture for protecting crops inside a kas (greenhouse) from adverse weather, pests and diseases, and for optimizing the cultivation climate. It includes physical barriers, climate control systems and management practices designed to reduce losses and improve yield and quality. The main goals are to prevent hail damage, frost, excessive solar radiation, wind, and rain impact; to exclude pests; and to maintain stable temperature, humidity and CO2 levels.
Common methods include nets and screens, such as anti-insect nets to exclude pests, shade or sun nets
Materials vary by purpose: mesh insect nets, hail nets with larger mesh, shading fabrics with different opacity,
Kasbescherming is common in the Netherlands and other temperate-climate greenhouse operations, supporting year-round production of crops
