Kapitaalist refers to the dominant economic system in much of the world, primarily characterized by private ownership of the means of production. It is also described as capitalism, from the Latin 'capitale,' meaning head or chief. The term is often applied to describe the economic and social systems prevalent in many developed countries.

In a capitalist system, individuals and businesses operate with the primary goal of generating profits. Production and distribution of goods and services are driven by the pursuit of profit, rather than by social or governmental dictates. The accumulation of capital is a central aspect, with investors purchasing equity or investing in companies to generate returns on their investments. Workers, in turn, receive wages for their labor, which allow them to access goods and services in the market.

Key features of a capitalist model include the existence of private property, wage labor, and markets that determine the price of goods and services. This system relies heavily on concepts such as supply and demand, price signals, and invisible hand theories. One of the core principles of capitalism is the idea of free markets, where prices are set through competition among producers and consumers.

Opposite arguments suggest that the distribution of wealth under capitalism often leads to income inequality, with a small number of people holding a disproportionate amount of wealth. However, its proponents argue that economic growth, innovation, and the creation of new jobs and opportunities are driven by the rapid transferral and concentration of capital.
