Kapcsolóüzemek, often translated as switching power supplies or switched-mode power supplies, are electronic power converters that convert electric energy from one form to another through a process of switching. They are widely used in modern electronics due to their high efficiency and compact size compared to linear power supplies.

The fundamental principle behind a kapcsolóüzem is to rapidly switch a power semiconductor device, such as a transistor, on and off. This switching action, controlled by a feedback loop, modulates the voltage or current delivered to the output. By varying the duty cycle of the switching, the desired output voltage is achieved.
