Kapacitásfaktorokról refers to capacity factors, a dimensionless term used to express the ratio of the actual energy output of a power-generating facility over a given period to its potential maximum output during that same period. It is essentially a measure of how often a power plant is running at its full capacity.

A capacity factor is calculated by dividing the actual energy produced (in kilowatt-hours, for example) by the theoretical maximum energy that could have been produced if the plant operated at its nameplate capacity continuously over the same time frame. For instance, if a solar farm produced 1,000 MWh in a month, and its theoretical maximum production for that month was 2,000 MWh, its capacity factor for that month would be 0.5 or 50%.

Capacity factors vary significantly depending on the type of power generation technology. Renewable energy sources like solar and wind typically have lower capacity factors due to their intermittent nature; they only produce power when the sun is shining or the wind is blowing. Conventional power plants, such as nuclear or coal-fired plants, generally have much higher capacity factors because they can operate almost continuously, barring maintenance or refueling. Understanding capacity factors is crucial for energy planning, grid management, and assessing the economic viability of different power generation sources.
