kaksoiskierros

Kaksoiskierros is a Finnish motorsport competition. It is a circuit racing series organized by the Finnish Automobile and Touring Club (AA), and it features a variety of vehicles including cars and motorcycles.

The concept of kaksoiskierros involves two vehicles racing simultaneously on the same track. One vehicle, typically an open-wheeled car, follows a designated course while the other vehicle, often a production or sports car, follows the same course but with its times independently recorded. At predetermined points, the vehicles will cross paths, with the second vehicle having to yield to the first.

Points are awarded to the vehicles based on their finishing times, with the fastest time automatically scoring points. A standard kaksoiskierros event consists of three sections, allowing the vehicles to compete in each section and earn their points. The competition is usually a one-off event but has been featured as part of a larger series, with the results counting towards a season-long championship.

Kaksoiskierros was initially run at the Karhusali Circuit in Karjaa, but it later moved to the Linnakallio Circuit in the city of Imatra. Despite its relatively small-scale operation, the kaksoiskierros has attracted attention from local and international racing enthusiasts due to its unique format and technical challenges it provides drivers and teams.
