Kajalkyniä, often anglicized as kajal or kohl pencil, is a cosmetic product primarily used to darken the eyelids and lash lines. It is a form of eyeliner that has been used for centuries, with origins tracing back to ancient Egypt and India. The traditional formulation of kajal often included soot and other natural ingredients, believed to have medicinal properties as well as aesthetic ones.

Modern kajalkyniä typically consists of a wax or oil base, pigments, and emollients. The pigments are often carbon black, iron oxides, or other mineral-based colorants. The texture can range from soft and blendable to firm and precise, depending on the intended application. Kajalkyniä is applied to the inner rim of the eyelid (the waterline) as well as along the lash line to create definition and enhance the eyes.
