Juurihakemistot, often translated as root directories or simply roots, are a fundamental concept in computer file systems. They represent the topmost level of the directory hierarchy. Imagine a file system as an inverted tree; the root directory is the single point from which all other directories and files branch out. In many operating systems, this root directory is represented by a specific symbol. For Unix-like systems, such as Linux and macOS, the root directory is denoted by a forward slash (/). For Windows, the root of each drive is represented by a letter followed by a colon and a backslash, for example, C:\.
