In Finnish, joulupäivästä is the elative case form of joulupäivä, used in phrases such as "joulupäivästä lähtien" (from Christmas Day) or "joulupäivästä kertomatta."

Traditions vary by country. Religious services on Christmas Day are common in many churches. Families may prepare a Christmas meal, exchange gifts, and visit relatives. In Finland, the evening before (Christmas Eve) is usually the primary day for gift giving and the big joulupöytä feast, while joulupäivä is often more low‑key with church attendance, quiet time at home, and visiting.
