Injektiopäätökset, commonly referred to as injection decisions, are a legal concept primarily associated with administrative law and public sector decision-making. They describe situations where a public authority, when making a discretionary decision, is compelled or heavily influenced to reach a specific outcome. This can occur when the facts and circumstances of a case are so clear and the relevant legal provisions are so straightforward that there is essentially only one lawful or reasonable course of action available to the authority. In essence, the authority's room for maneuver is significantly reduced, and the decision almost makes itself.

The concept is rooted in the principle of legality and the requirement that public authorities must act within the bounds of the law. If a situation is so clear-cut that any other decision would be demonstrably unlawful or unreasonable, then the authority is effectively obliged to make a particular decision. This does not mean that all discretionary decisions are injektiopäätöksiä. Many administrative decisions involve a genuine exercise of discretion, where the authority has to weigh various factors and choose from a range of permissible options. However, in exceptional cases, the weight of evidence and legal considerations points overwhelmingly in one direction, leading to an injektiopäätös. The existence of such decisions can be relevant in judicial review proceedings, where a court might examine whether an authority failed to make an injektiopäätös when one was clearly warranted, or conversely, acted as if one existed when there was still room for discretion.
