Inhalované is a Czech term that denotes substances or medicines intended to be delivered by inhalation, i.e., through breathing into the lungs. The related noun is inhalace and the device used to administer these substances is an inhalátor. Inhalace allows drugs to act directly on the airways, often enabling rapid relief or localized treatment with reduced systemic exposure.

Inhalation therapy uses several delivery systems. Metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) release a measured aerosol dose, frequently used with a spacer to improve deposition in the lungs. Dry powder inhalers (DPIs) deliver medication as a powdered form that is inhaled by the patient’s breath. Nebulizers convert liquid medicines into a fine mist suitable for patients who have difficulty using inhalers or require more extensive support, such as young children or those with severe obstruction. Proper technique is essential for effective therapy and may include coordinating breathing, a spacer, or regular device cleaning.

Common indications include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, and cystic fibrosis. Medications administered by inhalation include bronchodilators (short-acting and long-acting beta-agonists), inhaled corticosteroids, and combination products. Local side effects such as throat irritation or hoarseness, and an elevated risk of oral thrush with corticosteroids, can occur if the mouth is not rinsed after use.

Inhalované substances also encompass non-medicinal exposures, such as smoke, fumes, or other aerosols, which can have harmful health effects. The term thus covers both therapeutic inhalation and environmental inhalants.
