Environmental considerations are modest compared with other landfills, due to the low organic content and limited potential for gas generation. Re-use of processed inert waste as aggregate or backfill supports recycling and reduces demand for virgin materials. Regulation and permitting vary by country, but inertdeponier generally operate under waste management and environmental protection regimes that define waste types, handling, and monitoring requirements.
