Impellereihin is a term used in Finnish technical language to refer to the impellers of hydraulic machinery. In practical use the word designates either a single impeller or the set of impellers within a device such as a pump, a compressor, a turbine, or a mixer. An impeller is the rotating element that imparts energy to a fluid by accelerating it through blades arranged around a hub.

Applications include centrifugal and axial-flow pumps, turbochargers, hydroelectric turbines, and certain microfluidic pumps, where the impeller network defines the system’s head, flow rate, and efficiency. The term is commonly encountered in design documents, performance specifications, and maintenance manuals for these machines.

Design considerations focus on blade geometry (back-curved, forward-curved, or radial), blade count, inlet and outlet angles, and hub design. Material selection is driven by chemical compatibility, temperature, and wear, with stainless steel, bronze, aluminum alloys, and engineering plastics among common choices.
