Immuniseerivad is a term derived from the Dutch word "immuniseren," meaning to immunize or vaccinate. It refers to the process of making an individual or population immune to a particular disease, typically through vaccination. Vaccination involves introducing a weakened or inactive form of a pathogen, or specific components of it, into the body. This exposure prompts the immune system to recognize the pathogen and develop a defense mechanism, such as producing antibodies. Should the individual later encounter the actual disease-causing agent, their immune system is prepared to fight it off, preventing or significantly reducing the severity of illness.
