ilmenne
Ilmenne is a term that has appeared in some historical and regional sources as a variant spelling of ilmenite, the common iron titanium oxide mineral. In modern mineralogy the standard name is ilmenite. Ilmenite has chemical formula FeTiO3 and occurs in a variety of igneous and metamorphic rocks. It is typically black to steel-gray with a metallic to adamantine luster and a Mohs hardness of about 5–6. The mineral crystallizes in the hexagonal system and often occurs with magnetite, hematite, rutile, and other oxides.
