Ilmanohjauselementtejä, commonly known in English as aerodynamic control surfaces or control elements, are movable parts of an aircraft's wing, tail, or fuselage designed to alter the airflow around the aircraft. This alteration of airflow allows the pilot to control the aircraft's attitude and direction of flight.

The primary types of ilmanohjauselementtejä include ailerons, elevators, and rudders. Ailerons are typically located on the trailing edge of the wings and work in opposition to each other. When one aileron is deflected upwards, the other is deflected downwards, causing the aircraft to roll. Elevators are located on the horizontal stabilizer of the tail assembly. Deflecting them upwards causes the nose of the aircraft to pitch up, while deflecting them downwards pitches the nose down. The rudder is located on the vertical stabilizer of the tail assembly and controls yaw, which is the movement of the aircraft's nose left or right.

Flaps are usually on the trailing edge of the wings and can be extended to increase lift and drag, particularly important during takeoff and landing. Trim tabs are small, adjustable surfaces on the trailing edge of the main control surfaces that allow the pilot to reduce control pressure and maintain a desired attitude with less effort.
