Idut is a fictional city-state created for world-building and urban governance studies. The name idut is imagined to derive from a local term meaning "bridge," reflecting its role as a historical link between inland markets and the coast.

Located on the delta plain of the Liral River, Idut covers about 210 square kilometers. The core lies along a harbor and canal network, surrounded by wetlands and mangroves that shape its urban form. The metropolitan population is roughly 1.2 million.

Idut formed as a medieval trading post and grew through shipbuilding and commerce. It gained municipal self-government in the 18th century and evolved a constitutional framework, maintaining autonomy within a regional federation.
