ickeHDLkolesterol
IckeHDLkolesterol, often referred to as non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol or non-HDL-C, represents the total cholesterol in the blood minus the cholesterol contained within high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles. It is a calculated value derived from a standard lipid panel. Non-HDL-C includes cholesterol found in very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), intermediate-density lipoproteins (IDL), and low-density lipoproteins (LDL).
This measurement is considered a more comprehensive indicator of cardiovascular disease risk than LDL cholesterol alone
The calculation is typically performed by subtracting the HDL cholesterol value from the total cholesterol value.
