iMet
International Military Education and Training (IMET) is a U.S. government security assistance program designed to foster professional military education, civil-military relations, and mutual understanding between the United States and foreign militaries. Administered primarily through the Department of State's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs in coordination with the Department of Defense, IMET funds training programs for foreign military personnel and civilian defense officials. The program supports short- and long-term courses in leadership, ethics, human rights, international humanitarian law, and modern military techniques, delivered in U.S. or partner-country institutions, and includes exchange programs and scholarships.
