Hármasugrás, also known as the triple jump, is a track and field event that combines a hop, a skip, and a jump. It is one of the two horizontal jumping events in athletics, the other being the long jump. The event requires a unique blend of speed, power, and coordination.

The athlete begins by running down a runway, similar to the long jump. At a designated take-off board, they perform the first phase, the hop. This involves taking off from one foot and landing on the same foot. Immediately after landing the hop, the athlete executes the second phase, the skip. This is a step from one foot to the other, with the second foot landing on the ground. Finally, the athlete performs the third phase, the jump, pushing off from the second foot and landing in a sandpit. The distance of the jump is measured from the take-off board to the nearest mark made in the sandpit.

The triple jump has a rich history, with its origins tracing back to ancient Greece. It became a modern Olympic sport in 1896. The technique has evolved over the years, with athletes continuously pushing the boundaries of human performance.
