Huvudvärkssymtom refers to the various sensations and indicators that accompany a headache. These symptoms can manifest differently depending on the type of headache and the individual experiencing it. Common symptoms include a dull or throbbing pain, often localized to one side of the head or affecting the entire head. The intensity of the pain can range from mild to severe.

Beyond pain, other associated symptoms may arise. Nausea and vomiting are frequently reported, particularly with migraines. Sensitivity to light (photophobia) and sound (phonophobia) are also characteristic of certain headache types, causing discomfort in normally tolerated environments. Some individuals may experience visual disturbances, such as flashing lights, blind spots, or zigzag lines, known as aura, which often precede a migraine.

Other potential symptoms include dizziness, fatigue, and muscle tension, especially in the neck and shoulders. In some cases, headaches can be accompanied by nasal congestion or a runny nose, particularly with cluster headaches. The duration of headache symptoms can vary greatly, from a few hours to several days. It is important to note that while most headaches are benign, persistent or severe symptoms, or those accompanied by neurological changes like weakness or numbness, warrant medical attention to rule out more serious underlying conditions.
