Honvédségben refers to the Hungarian Defence Forces, the combined armed forces of Hungary. It comprises the Hungarian Land Forces, Hungarian Air Force, and special forces units. The Honvédség is responsible for defending Hungary's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and borders, as well as participating in international peacekeeping and security operations.

The modern Hungarian Defence Forces trace their roots back to the historical Hungarian Royal Army (Magyar Királyi Honvédség), which was established in 1867. Following the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Honvédség underwent significant transformations throughout the 20th century, including periods under different political systems. Since Hungary's accession to NATO in 1999 and the European Union in 2004, the Honvédség has been progressively modernized and integrated into international defense structures.

Key roles of the Honvédség include territorial defense, disaster relief, and supporting national security objectives. The forces are committed to interoperability with NATO standards and contribute to collective defense efforts. Conscription was abolished in 2004, and the Honvédség now operates as a fully professional, volunteer-based military. Personnel are trained to international standards and participate in joint exercises with allied nations. The organization and structure of the Honvédség are overseen by the Ministry of Defence, with operational command resting with the Chief of Defence.
