Homeopatiaa is a system of alternative medicine developed in the late 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann. It is based on the principle of "like cures like," meaning a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can be used in highly diluted form to treat similar symptoms in an ill person. The core tenets of homeopathy include the law of similars, the law of minimum dose, and the concept of vital force.

Homeopathic preparations are made by repeatedly diluting a substance in alcohol or distilled water, often with vigorous shaking or "succussion" at each stage. This process can result in dilutions so extreme that there is statistically no chance of any of the original substance remaining in the final product. Despite this, proponents believe that the water retains a "memory" or energetic imprint of the original substance.

Scientific evaluations of homeopathy have consistently concluded that it is not effective for any health condition. Major scientific and medical organizations worldwide state that homeopathic remedies are not based on scientific evidence and lack the efficacy of conventional treatments. Studies have generally found that homeopathic treatments are no more effective than placebo. The lack of a plausible biological mechanism and the extreme dilutions are often cited as reasons for its ineffectiveness. Homeopathy is considered a pseudoscience by the scientific community.
