Hipoozmolalitének is a medical term referring to a state of abnormally low osmolality in bodily fluids. Osmolality is a measure of the concentration of dissolved particles, such as electrolytes and glucose, in a solution. In the context of body fluids, it reflects the overall concentration of solutes.

When hipoozmolalitének occurs, the concentration of solutes in the blood, for example, is lower than it should be. This can lead to water moving from areas of lower solute concentration to areas of higher solute concentration, potentially causing cells to swell. In the case of blood, excessively low osmolality is often associated with hyponatremia, a condition where the concentration of sodium in the blood is too low.

Several factors can contribute to hipoozmolalitének. These include excessive fluid intake, impaired kidney function that limits the excretion of water, certain hormonal imbalances such as the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH), and some medications. Symptoms can vary depending on the severity and underlying cause, and may include nausea, vomiting, headache, confusion, and in severe cases, seizures or coma. Diagnosis typically involves measuring the osmolality of blood and urine, along with blood electrolyte levels. Treatment focuses on addressing the underlying cause and carefully managing fluid and electrolyte balance.
