Hiperperfúziós is a term used in medicine to describe a state of excessive blood flow to an organ or tissue. This condition can arise from various physiological or pathological processes. In normal physiological conditions, increased blood flow, known as hyperemia, can occur in response to increased metabolic demand, such as during exercise in muscles or during digestion in the stomach and intestines. This type of hyperemia is typically transient and beneficial, ensuring adequate oxygen and nutrient supply.

Pathological hiperperfúziós, however, can be detrimental. It can be caused by conditions like inflammation, where inflammatory mediators lead to vasodilation and increased blood flow to the affected area, contributing to redness and swelling. Another cause can be arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), which are abnormal connections between arteries and veins that bypass the capillary system, leading to a high-volume, low-resistance shunt of blood. Certain tumors can also exhibit hyperperfusion due to their rapid growth and high metabolic needs, or as a result of neovascularization.

Diagnosing hiperperfúziós often involves imaging techniques such as Doppler ultrasound, which can measure blood flow velocity, or contrast-enhanced CT and MRI scans, which can visualize areas of increased vascularity. Treatment strategies depend entirely on the underlying cause. For physiological hyperemia, no intervention is needed. For pathological causes, treatment might involve addressing the underlying inflammatory condition, surgically correcting AVMs, or treating the tumor. Understanding the cause is crucial for effective management.
