Hibernációhoz refers to hibernation in Hungarian. Hibernation is a state of inactivity and metabolic depression in endotherms. Hibernating animals experience lowered body temperature, slowed breathing and heart rate, and a lower metabolic rate. This allows them to conserve energy during periods of cold weather and limited food availability, typically during winter.

Many mammals, including bears, ground squirrels, and hedgehogs, hibernate. Birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects can also enter states of dormancy that are similar to hibernation, often referred to as torpor or brumation.
