This surgical procedure, medically known as a cholecystectomy, is performed to remove the gallbladder, a small organ located beneath the liver. The gallbladder's primary function is to store and release bile, which aids in the digestion of fats.

The most common reason for a gzeltávolítás is gallstones, which are hardened deposits of digestive fluid that can form in the gallbladder. These stones can cause pain, inflammation, and other complications.
