Gyomorpolipok, also known as gastric polyps, are abnormal growths that develop on the inner lining of the stomach. They are generally small and can vary in size, shape, and color. Most gastric polyps are benign, meaning they are not cancerous. However, certain types of polyps have the potential to become malignant over time.

The exact cause of gastric polyps is not always clear, but several factors are believed to contribute to their formation. These include chronic inflammation of the stomach lining, such as that caused by Helicobacter pylori infection or long-term use of certain medications like proton pump inhibitors. Genetic factors and certain hereditary syndromes can also increase the risk of developing polyps.

Many gastric polyps do not cause any symptoms, especially when they are small. If symptoms do occur, they may include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and bleeding, which can manifest as blood in the stool or vomit. Larger polyps are more likely to cause symptoms.

Diagnosis of gastric polyps is typically made through an upper endoscopy (esophagogastroduodenoscopy), where a flexible tube with a camera is inserted into the stomach to visualize the lining. During the procedure, a biopsy can be taken for examination under a microscope to determine the type of polyp and whether it is cancerous.

Treatment for gastric polyps depends on their size, type, and whether they show any signs of malignancy. Small, benign polyps may not require treatment and can be monitored through regular endoscopies. Larger polyps or those with pre-cancerous or cancerous cells are usually removed endoscopically. Regular follow-up examinations are often recommended to detect any new polyps or changes in existing ones.
