Gruvene is a term used in speculative geology and fiction to denote a hypothetical emerald-green silicate mineral. It is not recognised by the International Mineralogical Association as a valid mineral name.

The name is said to derive from the fictional Gruven Range in the Nordim region, and it was popularized in early 1990s geologic narratives by researchers such as Dr. Lira Naeth.

In the fictional accounts, gruvene crystallizes in monoclinic or orthorhombic systems with prismatic to tabular crystals. It is described as having a vitreous to slightly resinous luster, a green color range from deep emerald to olive, and a pale gray to colorless streak. Reported hardness is around 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale.

The proposed formation mechanism involves metasomatic replacement of igneous rocks adjacent to ultramafic bodies, yielding a layered silicate with localized chromium or vanadium trace elements that impart color.

Because gruvene is not a recognized mineral, there are no verified natural specimens in museum collections. In fiction and speculative teaching scenarios, gruvene is used to illustrate crystallography concepts, phase diagrams, and high-pressure synthesis.
