grundskolans
The term grundskolan refers to the Swedish compulsory primary and secondary education system, which serves children and adolescents from the age of six or seven until they complete grade 9 or 10, at around 15 or 16 years old. It is publicly funded and administered by local municipalities, with national guidelines and curriculum frameworks set by the Swedish National Agency for Education. The primary objective of the grundskolan is to provide a broad-based education that promotes equal opportunities, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
The curriculum is organized into six primary classes (femte–årskurser) and three lower secondary classes (årskurser 7–9).
