Geodetíska is the science and practice concerned with measuring and representing the Earth. It focuses on determining the Earth's size, shape, and gravity field, as well as the precise positions and movements of points on, above, or below its surface. The discipline combines mathematical modeling with observational techniques to create stable reference frames used for mapping, navigation, and engineering.

Key concepts in geodetíska include the ellipsoid, which approximate the Earth's shape, and the geoid, which reflects variations in gravitational equipotential surfaces. Geodetic reference frames—global (such as the International Terrestrial Reference Frame) and local or regional—provide coordinates and transform relationships between systems.
