Genocidi, the Italian plural form of genocidio, refers to acts intended to destroy a protected group in whole or in part. The concept was formalized by Raphael Lemkin in 1944 and later codified in the 1948 United Nations Genocide Convention. In Italian usage, genocidi is the plural; in English, the plural is genocides.
