Gelmasker is a type of facial mask formulated as a gel, designed to hydrate, soothe, and refresh the skin. It is commonly used in both consumer skincare routines and professional settings, either as a rinse-off product or as a peelable/adhesive mask, depending on the formulation.

Gel masks are typically water-based and may contain humectants such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid, thickening agents, botanical extracts, vitamins, and sometimes cooling or anti-inflammatory additives. They can take the form of a hydrogel that adheres to the face as a sheet or a viscous gel that remains on the skin, offering a cooling sensation and a temporary film. Some products are marketed as “jelly masks” or “gel sheets” and are designed to be left on for a set period before removal.

Application usually involves cleansing the skin, applying an even layer or placing the mask over the face, and leaving it on for roughly 10–20 minutes. After removing a sheet mask, the remaining serum is often patted into the skin. Usage frequency ranges from once or twice weekly to several times per week, depending on skin type and product instructions.

Efficacy is typically associated with temporary hydration and soothing effects. While gel masks can improve the appearance of dry or irritated skin, they are not a substitute for active dermatological treatments. Users should perform a patch test for fragrances or botanical ingredients and discontinue use if irritation occurs. Store masks according to label directions; some products benefit from refrigeration for a cooling effect.
