Ganglionsolut, also known as a ganglion cyst, is a non-cancerous lump that most often develops along the tendons or joints of the wrists or hands. They can also appear on the ankles or feet. The exact cause of ganglion cysts is not fully understood, but they are thought to arise from the synovial tissue that surrounds joints and tendons. This tissue produces a fluid that lubricates movement, and in the case of a ganglion cyst, this fluid can leak out and form a sac-like structure.

These cysts typically appear as a soft, round or oval lump, varying in size. They are often attached to an underlying tendon or joint capsule. While usually painless, some ganglion cysts can cause discomfort, tingling, or muscle weakness, particularly if they press on a nearby nerve. The diagnosis is usually made based on a physical examination and sometimes imaging tests like ultrasound or MRI to confirm the nature of the lump and its connection to the joint or tendon.

Treatment for ganglion cysts depends on whether they are causing symptoms. Many resolve on their own without any intervention. If a cyst is painful or bothersome, treatment options may include observation, aspiration (draining the fluid with a needle), or surgical removal. Surgical excision is generally the most effective option for preventing recurrence, although cysts can sometimes reappear even after surgery.
