Färgfring is a Swedish term that translates to "color fringe" or "color bleed" in English. It describes a visual artifact that can occur in images and displays where colors appear to spread or bleed into adjacent areas. This phenomenon is often associated with the way light interacts with optical systems or with certain digital image processing techniques.

In the context of optics, färgfring can be caused by chromatic aberration. This optical distortion happens because lenses refract different wavelengths of light (colors) at slightly different angles. As a result, white light passing through a lens can be dispersed into its constituent colors, leading to colored halos or fringes around objects, particularly at high contrast edges.
