Fusiblenauha, or fusible tape, is a heat-activated bonding tape used in textiles. It consists of a thin band of fabric or nonwoven material that is coated with a fusible adhesive or has an adhesive-backed layer. When heat is applied, the adhesive melts and bonds the tape to the fabric, creating a bond without sewing.

There are several forms of fusible tape. Adhesive-backed tapes are commonly used to finish hems and edges, while fusible interfacing tapes are designed to reinforce or stiffen areas such as collars, waistbands, or hems. Nonwoven fusible stabilizing tapes are used to support delicate fabrics or to reinforce seams without adding bulk.

Application typically involves placing the tape along the desired edge or seam, covering it with a pressing cloth, and applying an iron at the fabric’s recommended temperature for a specified time. After cooling, the bond should be tested. Fusible tape is used for hems, edge finishing, seam stabilization, and lightweight reinforcement in garment construction and crafts.

Materials and options vary, with tapes made from polyester, cotton, or blends. The adhesive is usually heat-activated, using polyamide or acrylic formulations. Some tapes are adhesive-backed and require no separate adhesive, while others rely entirely on the heat-activated bond.

Care and limitations include compatibility with fabrics; very light or highly textured fabrics may show the tape or alter drape. It may not be suitable for heavy fabrics or complex curves without choosing the appropriate width and bonding parameters. Testing on scrap fabric is advised before wide use.
