Funksjonalister is a Norwegian term meaning "functionalists," used to describe proponents of functionalism across architecture, design, sociology and related fields. The label denotes an emphasis on function, utility and purpose as primary criteria for form, structure and organization.

In architecture and design, funksjonalister advocated simple, unornamented buildings and objects where aesthetics follow practical requirements. The movement emerged in the early 20th century alongside international modernism, with Scandinavian variants often called "funkis." Key practical principles included standardization, use of new materials and technologies, and attention to light, air and efficient space planning. The approach influenced housing, public buildings and industrial design throughout Northern Europe.

In social sciences, funksjonalister refers to those aligned with structural functionalism, which analyzes social institutions in terms of the functions they perform for societal stability. Prominent theorists associated with functionalist perspectives include Talcott Parsons and Robert K. Merton, though Norwegian social scientists adapted these ideas to local contexts.

Criticism of funksjonalister centers on tendencies toward reductionism, overlooking individual agency, cultural meaning and aesthetic values.
