Fullutdragning is a Swedish term that literally translates to "full extraction." In its most common usage, it refers to the complete removal of a tooth, including its root structure. A full extraction is typically performed when a tooth is severely decayed, fractured beyond repair, impacted, or infected to a point where saving it is not feasible. The procedure involves loosening the tooth from its socket using specialized dental instruments called elevators and forceps, and then carefully removing it. Local anesthetic is usually administered to numb the area, ensuring the patient experiences minimal discomfort.
