Fremje is a constructed language created for speculative fiction and linguistic experimentation. It was designed to illustrate features such as agglutinative morphology, vowel harmony, and a flexible syntax within a coherent fictional setting. In real-world contexts, Fremje has no native speakers and is studied mainly by conlang communities and readers of related works.

Phonology and orthography: Fremje has a five-vowel system (a, e, i, o, u) and a consonant inventory that includes p, t, k, m, n, s, l, r. Syllables are typically CV or CVC, and stress falls on the penultimate syllable. The language is not tonal in its standard form. The Fremji script, an alphabet designed for Fremje, is used in in-world publications, though transliteration into the Latin alphabet is common for learners.

Grammar: Fremje is predominantly agglutinative and follows a basic subject–object–verb (SOV) word order. Nouns inflect for case (nominative, accusative, dative, genitive) via suffixes. Verbs encode aspect and mood through suffix sequences; tense is marked morphologically rather than with separate auxiliaries. Pronouns include inclusive and exclusive forms in the first-person plural, and some dialects maintain politeness distinctions.

Lexicon and derivation: Most roots are of native origin, with productive affixes for derivation, negation, and number. Word formation commonly relies on compounding, creating terms by combining roots and affixes rather than relying on free phrase order.

Usage: Fremje appears in a set of novels and companion materials and is used by in-world institutions such as schools and media. It has a modest but active community of learners who share texts, dictionaries, and learning resources.
