folkloristinen

Folkloristinen is a Finnish adjective meaning relating to folklore or the study of folklore (folkloristics). It is used to describe things drawn from or concerned with traditional beliefs, stories, songs, rites, and other forms of cultural expression transmitted orally within a community. In Finnish academic and critical writing, the noun form "folkloristiikka" designates the discipline that analyzes such materials, while "folkloristi" refers to a person who studies folklore; the adjective "folkloristinen" modifies objects, methods, or interpretations (for example, "folkloristinen tutkimus" or "folkloristinen lähestymistapa").

The term may be applied to literature, music, visual arts, or film that adopts or references traditional motifs and forms.
