Fluiditeten, or fluidity, is the quality of something that flows easily. In physics, fluids—liquids and gases—flow when subjected to shear stress, and their ability to do so depends on viscosity. A high-viscosity fluid, such as honey, resists flow; a low-viscosity fluid, such as water, flows readily. Temperature, pressure, and composition modify viscosity and thus the overall fluiditeten of a substance. Some fluids are Newtonian, with constant viscosity, while many common fluids are non-Newtonian, changing viscosity with shear rate.
