floptical
The Floptical is an American computer storage product designed by 3dfx Interactive and manufactured by Seagate Technology. Released in 1996, it is a combination of 2.1 MB 3.5-inch floppy disk drive and a 1 GB 3.5-inch interface for hard disk drives, creating a new category of the mass storage devices market known as the Floptical drives.
Floptical drives work by using frequency modulation to encode audio and date onto a low-density 2.88 MB

Floptical is no longer sold in the consumer market and support is limited to third-party dealers
